Interviews at Pride

Image
Hello everyone! Good morning, Buenos Dias. Yesterday I took an adventure to the Castro Area of San Fransico. It was June 29th, the pride parade. The parade had just ended and I entered the streets of Castro where many interesting human beings were. There my mission began. As I walked past the many naked people, my young eyes were stung and my soul felt damp. I understand your nakedness is natural and it's a product of God, but I am not used to seeing Gentilia bouncing down the sidewalk. Anyway, I interviewed three beings. It was truly an amazing experience, I wish I interviewed more, but due to the lack of time, I couldn't. Other than the people dressed up as dogs on leashes crawling, people selling shrooms, the smell of weed, the bare chests, the bare butt people, the openmindedness it gave me was worth it. Interview 1:   Names: Maya, Dialy "Whats your guy's sense of style?"   Maya: "I wear Commando, an all women's company. My style is sustainable wear...

FASHION in CENTRAL ASIA

Image
Fashion is the worldwide art we all know! We all wear, we all see, we all do. In  America and Europe, we have pretty similar styles and our fashion brands are  practically cousins. Now let's turn our focus on Central Asia. Uzbekistan,  Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. These six  countries share food, culture, mountainous- regions, and.......FASHION. Fashion  in Central Asia is colorful and modest. If you ever flipped through a National  Geographic and read a page on Central Asia, you'd probably see the people in their  traditional clothing like the Chapan, loose trousers, and women wearing  colorful long dresses with shiny embellishments. In Afghanistan, Kamiz are  popular dresses worn among women. It's a tunic, long-sleeved dress full of  embellishments. This dress is the highlight of Afghan Fashion, with the thick  cotton base and the sewed-on Gul-I-Pirahan, which are embroidered roun...

Schiaparelli

Image
Creative and joyous designer Elsa Schiaparelli dominated the 30s with  her organic, highly original designs. Schiaparelli was born in Rome in  1809. She was always interested in art. As a teenager, she published  her collection of poetry. As she moved more into the fashion world,  she used her creativity by playing around with unusual materials  making out of this world, unique creations. One unique creation was  the shoe hat which was a collaboration with Salvador Dali. The thought  of shoes on your head is ridiculous, right? Well, surprisingly she  pulled this design off. This makes me question how far we can go with  fashion. Is there such a thing as underwear bandanas? Who knows. She  was one of the first designers to find potential in zippers for  fashion, and the famous pink-magenta shade "S hocking Pink"  was created  by adding a touch of white to magenta. You can see  Shocking Pink  in  ...

War, Flee, America

At a young age, Lila and Ilyas had to flee from Afghanistan during the Soviet Invasion. The Soviets invaded to prevent the rise of Islam. They feared it would spread to their Central Asian republics and they invaded to prop up the communist government. Anyways, it was Ilyas, Lila, and their uneducated mother, blind father, and four siblings. Preliminary to leaving, their Uncle Madani, a writer and philosopher was tortured and executed by the communists. During that time, a lot of politicians, teachers, and anyone on a high pedestal were tortured and assassinated in view of the fact that they could be seen as possible harm to the invaders. Any relatives of Madani would be executed as well, so their family hired a human smuggler to smuggle them from Herat, Afghanistan to Mashhad, Iran. Groups of people, usually families, walked on the dry, barren landscape, surrounded by the stark brown mountains that would soon lead them to a land free of war and chaos, or so they thought. All of ...

Pope Joan

Image
From 855 AD to 858, there was a Pope who was a WOMAN. Crazy right? Historians say that Pope Joan is a myth, which I mean sure it could be , but also could be true. After the death of her brother, she disguises herself as a man and enters a monastery as "Brother John Anglicus". She (or he .. I do not know) became very educated and became a scholar. Because of her superior intelligence, she was elected Pope VIII in 855. She managed to hide her true identity for 3 years until while doing a papal procession ( Papal Procession: A formal ceremonial parade involving the Pope and various clergy, often including cardinals, bishops, and other officials, as well as acolytes, guards, and musicians.) she went into labor. Now, her death was between two things, she died during birth or after she gave birth she was stoned to death after people found out her true identity. So you may be asking what happened to her baby. Well, it's between 3 things. The child was dragged from a ho...

The Sad Age Of Music

Image
The impact of music is now less effective than it used to be. Today, "Creative" music artists are often just rappers using downloaded beats from YouTube. Where are all the artists who dip deep into their feelings to add to their lyrics and the riffs and chords of their music? It's the same beat, same voice, same everything! Now, you may be saying "Hey P.Public! There are artists out there who are creative and passionate" Yes there are, but I am talking about the ones who get all the attention . The mainstream stuff. Yes, I talked about the Hip Hop part of music , now let me bring in Pop. As we all know, today we have Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift. No hate to them, but dude, I swear the songs they make I have heard from similar artists. How much do those artists make? Ms. Swift's net worth is equal to 1.6 million and Ms. Carpenters is equal to 12 million. So you're telling me that the artists who did not start a musical revolution, s...

R.I.P Carl

Image
After laboring away all day, George finally sits down on the comfortable sofa undisturbed. He fell into deep sleep for about like ... what? 4-5 hours? When he gets a phone call. He tosses and turns. Maybe it's just a mockingbird he is hearing. He realizes it's the electronic communicator and finally picks it up. "Hey George, it's Carlghhh," the person says on the other line. George wanted to bang his head against the wall hearing this aggravating, german accent. "Hey Carl, it's 3:34 in the morning. can I help you?" He says into the phone. "Gorghh, I want to kill mein self..hilf mir" Carl says. George is exhausted. All he wants to do is just tell Carl to f#ck off, but because of his kind heart, he listens in.   Now .. this interaction goes on for days around the same time. It's always Carl calling George, telling him he was going to kill himself. George prayed every night, that tonight would be the night he would get sleep, and tha...
